Department’s Proposed Research and Development Centers

The following is a list of 18 research and development centers released last week by the Education Department, the amount of funding sought for each center for five years, and the type of funding arrangement proposed.

Center on Research on Dissemination and Knowledge Utilization

Amount of award: $6.8 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Assessment, Evaluation, and Testing

Amount of award: $14.3 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Families, Communities, and Children’s Learning

Amount of award: $6.3 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Education in the Inner Cities

Amount of award: $7.4 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Cultural Diversity and Second-Language Learning

Amount of award: $6.4 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Writing and Literacy

Amount of award: $4.9 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Student Learning

Amount of award: $7.2 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Learning To Teach

Amount of award: $6.8 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Postsecondary Learning, Teaching, and Assessment

Amount of award: $5.9 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Teacher Performance Evaluation and Educational Accountability

Amount of award: $5.2 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Education Policies and Student Learning

Amount of award: $7.1 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Adult Literacy

Amount of award: $10.2 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Education Quality of the Workforce

Amount of award: $6.5 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Organization and Restructuring of Schools

Amount of award: $7.2 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Mathematics Teaching and Learning

Amount of award: $5.9 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Science Teaching and Learning

Amount of award: $6.9 million.
Funding arrangement: Grant.

Center on Education Finance and Productivity

Amount of award: $6 million.
Funding arrangement: Cooperative agreement.

Center on Literature

Amount of award: $4.3 million.
