Rudolph F. Crew, assistant superintendent of instruction and personnel for the Duarte (Calif.) Unified School District, to deputy superintendent of curriculum and instruction for the Boston School Department.

Robert Renick, vice chairman of the School Board of Dade County, Fla., to chairman.

Paul Shelby, a Bowie, Md. lawyer and a member of the Prince George County Board of Education, to chairman.

R. Stephen Tegarden, director of high schools for the Howard County (Md.) Public School System, to superintendent of schools in Glastonbury, Conn., effective Jan. 1.

Guilbert C. Hentschke, acting dean of the graduate school of education and human development at the University of Rochester, N.Y., to dean.

Thomas J. LaBelle, associate dean of the graduate division of the University of California at Los Angeles, to dean of the school of education of the University of Pittsburgh, effective Feb. 1.

In the Associations

Frederick C. Calder, headmaster of Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, to executive director of the New York State Association of Independent Schools.

Patty A. Finch, director in Nevada and Arizona for a project run by California State University at Fullerton that implements a federal grant on Title 9, to director of the National Association for the Advancement of Humane Education.

Stephen Horn, president of California State University in Long Beach, Calif., has been elected chairman of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Scott Poland, director of psychological services for Cypress-Fairbanks Public Schools in Houston, Tex., has been chosen director-elect of the school-psychology division of the Texas Psychological Association. He will assume the position of director in January 1987.

Resignations and

Retirements

Hugh T. Caumartin Jr., superintendent of schools in Toledo (Ohio) has resigned to become president of Educational Incentives Corporation, a consulting firm in Toledo.

Dwight R. Crum, senior policy advisor for the office of private education at the U.S. Education Department, will retire in January.
