What the First Round of Test Results Say About Common Core Progress

States across the country are announcing results on common-core aligned tests, administered for the first time this year. In New Jersey the numbers were released a few weeks ago and, as in many states, the news isn’t pretty. Most students fall below proficient in reading and math. What does it mean?
