Channel One, the for-profit news network for schools, this month launched a three-year program to promote awareness of the First Amendment.
Supported by a $2.25 million grant from the Miami-based John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the “1Voice” campaign will be featured in Channel One’s broadcasts, as well as online at the student-oriented www.channelone.com Web site, and its teacher site, www.channelonenetwork.com.
The student site aims to make the First Amendment relevant to students, with such features as a version of the U.S. Constitution that they can download to their iPods.
