An Early-Learning Strategy: Teaching Math in Informal Spaces (Video)

Dolores Torres, a teacher at Buford State Preschool in Lennox, Calif., demonstrates how math concepts can be introduced in informal spaces throughout the school day. Torres starts the day by asking students to count the items on their trays during breakfast in the classroom, and continues to ask students to count and sort items during unstructured playtime.
