A new report reviews 21 tools used to measure how engaged students are in their learning in upper elementary, middle, and high school.
Researchers for the Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast in Greensboro, N.C., undertook the study to help educators and researchers assess how best to evaluate students school connectedness, given the wide variety of such instruments that have emerged in recent years from different disciplinary perspectives. It describes 14 student self-report surveys and three teacher surveys, as well as four observation measures for tracking on- and off-task behaviors of individual students in class.
