A bill has been introduced in the South Carolina legislature that would require all public elementary, middle, and high schools to provide instruction on the Second Amendment for at least three consecutive weeks each school year.
The proposed bill would also require that the state “adopt a curriculum developed or recommended by the National Rifle Association or its successor organization.”
The proposed Second Amendment Education Act of 2015 would further designate Dec. 15 of each year as Second Amendment Awareness Day, during which schools would “conduct poster or essay contests themed ‘The Right to Bear Arms; One American Right Protecting All Others’ for each grade level.” Parents who did not want their children to participate would have to provide a written request to the school principal.
