A bill introduced in the Mississippi legislature would include grades for parents on students’ report cards, rating parents on whether their children turned in homework and how well they communicated with teachers, among other measures.
Only school districts with accreditation ratings of C, D, or F would be required to grade parents. Report cards for grades K-12 would have sections for parents to be rated as “satisfactory,” “in need of improvement,” or “unsatisfactory.”
Several other states have considered instituting parent report cards, but either the proposals never came to fruition or were dissimilar to Mississippi’s.
