Howard University in Washington and the AASA, the School Superintendents Association, have kicked off a program to train the next generation of leaders for the nation’s urban school districts.
The partnership between the historically black university and the AASA will provide participants with mentors who are current and former urban superintendents; coursework options at Howard for those interested in pursuing a doctoral degree; a center for research and discussion about urban districts; career counseling and coaching; internships and field experiences; and national seminars and conferences.
The AASA is also teaming up with the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education to host an academy on the West Coast.
