Drug Education

The House last week passed a bill to earmark $1.2 million for anti-drug education programs.

FY 1992 Education Budget
HR 2707
The Senate last week was expected to pass a fiscal 1992 appropriations bill for social services. It includes $30.6 million for Education Department programs.

School Reform
Representatives William D. Ford, Bill Goodling, and Dale E. Kildee last week introduced a comprehensive educationreform bill.

Thomas Nomination
Confirmation Hearing The Senate Judiciary Committee last week opened hearings on the nomination of Judge Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to be Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Special Education
Research Grants
The Education Department will soon be accepting applications for nearly $2.3 million in grants for research projects in special education and early intervention, according to an Aug. 30 notice in the Federal Register. Applications for the grants became available on Sept. 13.
