To help students meet graduation requirements by passing their high school exit exams, Maryland is now offering Web-based remedial courses for students who have failed the exams or feel they need help to pass them. Starting with the class of 2009, Maryland students are required to pass four high school assessments—in algebra/data analysis, American government, biology, and English—before receiving their diplomas. The tests are administered at the end of each course, and if students fail, they are permitted to retake the tests as many times as necessary.
