More than a third of Hispanics, and almost one-third of African-Americans, are under age 18, based on the 2000 Census. Nearly a fourth of Asian-Americans are 17 or younger. The federal government has not yet released figures for school-age children based on the 2000 Census.
NOTE: Hispanics can be of any race. These population figures do not include people who selected more than one race.
