Theodore R. Mitchell will step down as the president of Occidental College to become the chief executive officer of the NewSchools Venture Fund in September. He will replace Kim Williams, the organization’s co-founder, who will take a full-time position as the executive chairwoman of NewSchools’ board of directors.
The San Francisco-based NewSchools Venture Fund is a nonprofit venture-philanthropy fund that invests in educational organizations.
Mr. Mitchell, 49, has been a member of NewSchools’ board since 1998. He will leave his position at Occidental, in Los Angeles, as of Sept. 1.
