The Teacher Magazine Editorial Internship

Teacher Magazine, a national magazine that covers K-12 education, offers one editorial internship each spring, summer, and fall. The magazine, a finalist for a National Magazine Award for general excellence (circ. 100,000 - 400,000) in 1999 and 2000, reports on the teaching profession, school policy and culture, and the people who influence education. Interns research and write the “Calendar” section of the magazine; write short articles and sidebars; proofread and fact- check articles; and assist staff with special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and speaking skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently
  • Graduate students or college students working toward a career in journalism or education are encouraged to apply. Teachers are encouraged to apply for the summer internship.

Terms:

Interns are paid $6/hour and work 15 hours a week for 12 to 15 weeks. Teacher Magazine is located in a suburb of Washington, D.C., and is Metrorail-accessible.
