“Parental Attitude and Frequency of Initiating Contact,” is posted by the American School Counselor Association.
About one of every 4 parents did not speak with their child’s school counselor during the 2004-05 school year, according to a survey.
Conducted by the American School Counselor Association—a group in Alexandria, Va., that represents more than 17,000 counselors—the survey found that 24 percent of parents had no contact with their child’s school counselor during the past school year. Thirty-two percent had contacted their children’s school counselors more than five times during the school year, according to the June 2005 survey, which polled 529 parents.
