Read an executive summary of the survey “Parental Attitude and Frequency of Initiating Contact.”
About one of every four parents did not speak with their child’s school counselor during the 2004-05 school year, according to a survey.
Conducted by the American School Counselor Association—a group in Alexandria, Va., that represents more than 17,000 school counselors—the survey found that 24 percent of parents had no contact with their child’s school counselor during the previous school year. Thirty-two percent had contacted their children’s school counselors more than five times during the school year, according to the June 2005 survey.
