Entire universities and colleges, and not just their schools of education, should be accountable for preparing more high-quality teachers, a report argues.
The Atlanta-based Southern Regional Education Board says that while all 16 Southern states it serves have accountability systems for their schools of education, only six—Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas—hold entire institutions responsible for producing high-quality teacher graduates.
