Pulling Plug

The Columbus, Ohio, public schools have asked educators to turn off appliances in classrooms and schools. In a memo last month, Chief Operating Officer Karin W. Rilley said the 62,000-student district needed to save money by reducing the amount of electricity used. Rhonda Johnson, the president of the Columbus Education Association, called the move “a stupid edict.”
