Charles E. “Chuck” Wilson has been named the executive director of the Agency for Instructional Technology.

Mr. Wilson, 47, who has worked for the nonprofit organization in a variety of capacities since 1994, previously served as its director of marketing and distribution.

The Bloomington, Ind.-based Agency for Instructional Technology develops educational software and provides professional-development workshops for educators.

Ted Sanders, the president of the Denver-based Education Commission of the States, has been elected to the board of directors of Plato Learning Inc.

Mr. Sanders, 62, who served as the deputy U.S. secretary of education during the first Bush administration, will serve a three-year term on the Plato board, which he began last month.

The Bloomington, Minn.-based Plato Learning provides online curriculum, assessments, and professional development for K-12 educators.

Thomas L. Goodman, a former superintendent of the San Diego Unified and Santa Clara County school districts in California, who is serving as an education adviser to gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been named the chief education officer for the Options For Youth charter schools group.

As chief education officer, Mr. Goodman, 69, will oversee efforts to improve curriculum and programs for the Pasadena, Calif.-based group and its sister organization, Opportunities for Learning. The two organizations manage 10 charter schools in the state that are for teenagers deemed at risk of dropping out of school.

Mr. Goodman served as the director of U.S. Department of Defense Schools for Europe and Asia from 1990 to 1997.
