Parent Training Aided

The William Penn Foundation has awarded the Philadelphia school district $746,000 to support its Parent Leadership Academy Initiative, the 214,000-student district said last week. The academy, to be pilot-tested at three schools, will provide a “core leadership program” offering information on the district’s educational initiatives; classes in parenting skills, proper nutrition, and healthy lifestyles; career enhancement for parents; and leadership and advocacy skills.
