“Rankings and Estimates: Rankings of the States 2004 and Estimates of School Statistics 2005" is posted by the National Education Association.

Teacher pay has remained relatively flat over the past decade, complicating school districts’ efforts to attract and retain qualified teachers, concludes a state-by-state salary report by the National Education Association.

The NEA’s annual survey found that for the 2003-04 school year—the most recent figures available for the report—pay increased only slightly over 2002-03. And since the 1993-94 school year, teacher salaries have grown by just 2.9 percent in inflation-adjusted dollars.

The report also ranks the states based on their average teacher salaries.
