Regis University in Denver has sued six individuals in federal court in Spokane, Wash., for alleged trademark infringement and unfair business practices in the use of an almost identical name, St. Regis University, for a college identified as a “diploma mill.” St. Regis gained attention last year after the Georgia Professional Standards Commission discovered that 10 Georgia educators had applied for salary increases based on bogus doctoral degrees they had purchased from the school.
