The following charts show the percentages of 4th, 8th, and 12th graders who performed at the “below basic,” “basic,” “proficient,” and “advanced” levels on the NAEP math tests administered in 1996 and 2000.

* Significantly different from 2000

NOTE: Because of rounding, percentages within each mathematics achievement- level range may not add up to 100, or to the exact percentages at or above achievement levels.
