Louisiana Test Results

Below are highlights from the most recent results of Louisiana’s 4th and 8th grade tests in English and mathematics. “Initial” testers took the exams for the first time this spring. “Retesters” failed one or both exams in spring 2002 and didn’t pass on their second chance last summer. Fourth graders who score “unsatisfactory” on either exam cannot advance to the next grade level. Eighth graders who score “unsatisfactory” on just one portion may move on to high school, but must participate in a transitional program, which is grade 8.5.
