Jorge E. Valencia Jr. has been appointed the executive director of the Los Angeles-based Point Foundation, a national organization that provides financial support and mentoring to students who may be marginalized because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Mr. Valencia, 43, will assume his new post in January. He is currently the executive director of the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Trevor Project, which operates a suicide-prevention helpline for gay youths and those with questions about their sexual orientation.
