Ten states have each received $10,000 grants from the National Governors Association’s Center for Best Practices to hold summits on early-childhood education. Alaska, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, and Virginia will work to develop recommendations for governors, encourage leadership among the business and philanthropy community, and build partnerships in the private sector. The states were chosen because their governors have made early-childhood programs a high priority.
