E. Jane Gallucci is the new president-elect of the National School Boards Association. She replaces Joan E. Schmidt, 61, who is now the organization’s president.
Ms. Gallucci, 56, has served on the board of education of the 113,000-student Pinellas County, Fla., schools for nine years. Ms. Schmidt has been a school board member in the 315-student Fairfield, Mont., school district for more than 20 years.
The Alexandria, Va.-based NSBA is a federation of state associations that represent local school board members. The nation’s school boards have about 95,000 members.
