A story in the April 23, 2003, edition of Education Week about the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation provided incorrect information about an initiative to support teachers seeking National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. The foundation gave $3.2 million to the program that ran from 1998 to 2002.
A story in the April 30 issue misidentified the alternative name for methanol. The liquid is also called methyl alcohol.
A headline in the April 30 issue said that a U.S. Department of Education plan would overhaul “ERIC Clearinghouses.” In fact, as the accompanying story made clear, the plan seeks to overhaul the ERIC system overall, and could include the elimination of some or all of the 16 research clearinghouses housed primarily at universities around the country.
