California’s state Assembly, the legislature’s lower house, has approved a controversial bill that would prohibit schools from reflecting negatively on gays and lesbians. The Senate also was expected to approve the bill. But Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican, had not indicated at press time whether he would sign it.
