Curriculum Notes
Looking to help your students learn to spell words like “ursprache”—or at least become more familiar with complex spellings and word structures?
E.W. Scripps Co., the leading sponsor of the National Spelling Bee, posts a number of study resources for competitive spellers.
Scripps’ National Bee Site features a compilation of word lists used in the National Spelling Bee since 1950 and an audio component that allows students to study word pronunciations or test themselves as if in competition.
Also included are a weekly column by a “spelling bee mom” and an online edition of Merriam-Webster’s “A Dictionary of Prefixes, Suffixes, and Combining Forms.”
