Peggy Brookins

Peggy Brookins, a former teacher in Florida, has been named the president of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, marking the first time that a board-certified teacher will head up the organization.

She co-founded an engineering and manufacturing magnet program at Forest High School, in Ocala, Fla.

Scott Marion

She previously served on the board’s national board of directors, and on the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans in 2014.

Scott Marion has been appointed the executive director of the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment, in Dover, N.H.

Chris Domaleski will serve as the associate director.

Richard Ross

Prior to working for the center, Marion was the director of assessment and accountability for Wyoming, and Domaleski was the associate superintendent for assessment and accountability for Georgia.

Richard Ross, Ohio’s state schools chief, will retire Dec. 31.

He previously had been an education adviser to Gov. John Kasich, a Republican, after serving as the superintendent of the Reynoldsburg district.
