Jay P. Greene, well known for his research on school choice, dropout rates, and other education issues, has joined the college of education and health professions at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville as the head of its newly created department of education reform.

Mr. Greene, 38, spent the past five years as a senior fellow with the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, a New York City-based think tank. He previously served as a professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston.

The college of education and health professions has 800 undergraduate and 1,700 graduate students.
