Because of incorrect data provided by states to the U.S. Department of Education, a chart in the March 16, 2005, issue of Education Week included erroneous figures on school transfers under the No Child Left Behind Act in the 2003-04 school year. For Alabama, the number of students eligible to transfer that year was 39,781, and the percent of students eligible to transfer who actually did was 1.9 percent, state officials said. In Kansas, officials said, the number of students eligible to transfer was 10,089, and the percent of students eligible to transfer who actually did was 2.2 percent.
