Diana Malloy has been named the executive director of the Ohio Mathematics and Science Coalition. Based in Cleveland, the omsc works to improve K-12 mathematics, science, and technology education. The coalition has 41 members representing education, business, and government in Ohio.

Ms. Malloy formerly directed operational redesign for the Cleveland Clinic.


David Frank

David Frank has joined the Widmeyer-Baker Group, a Washington-based public relations firm, as a senior vice president and group director. He will head one of the firm’s education practices. Mr. Frank, 50, formerly served as the communications director and public-affairs chief at the U.S. Department of Education.


Guilbert C. Hentschke

Guilbert C. Hentschke has been appointed to the board of directors of Aspen Youth Services, a Cerritos, Calif.-based organization that provides education, treatment, and rehabilitation services to at-risk children and their families.

Mr. Hentschke, 56, is the dean of the Rossier school of education at the University of Southern California.


NetSchools Corp. has tapped Kathleen M. Hurley to serve as its vice president of marketing.

NetSchools, based in Atlanta, has provided high-speed Internet connections, laptops for students, and software, technical, and instructional support to 36 schools in 13 states.

Ms. Hurley, 54, previously worked with The Learning Company as the vice president of marketing for the school division.


The Markle Foundation has chosen Alice Cahn as its managing director of interactive media for children’s programs. Ms. Cahn, 46, formerly worked at the Children’s Television Workshop as the president of the television, film, and video group.
