Gary Galluzzo

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards has appointed Gary Galluzzo as its new executive vice president. The private, nonprofit organization, based in Southfield, Mich., has certified 4,803 teachers across the country.

Mr. Galluzzo, 50, is the dean of the graduate school of education at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., and has served on the NBPTS board of directors for six years.


Marion Canedo

The Buffalo, N.Y., board of education has chosen interim Superintendent Marion Canedo, 56, to serve permanently as the superintendent of the 47,000-student school system.


Mike Azzara

Mike Azzara will join the 34,000-student, state-run Jersey City, N.J., school district as the state district associate superintendent for finance.

Mr. Azzara, 46, currently serves as the New Jersey Department of Education's assistant commissioner for finance.


Leo W. Pauls

Leo W. Pauls is the new executive director of the Renaissance Group and the Jones Institute for Educational Excellence at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan. Mr. Pauls, 60, previously served as the division chair of teacher education at Emporia State.


Kathleen B. Gramet has been named the superintendent of the 10,000-student North Syracuse Central School District in North Syracuse, N.Y. Ms. Gramet, 51, previously served as the district's assistant superintendent for instruction.
