A bit of worthwhile reading on this ho-hum Thursday:
Catalyst Chicago has a nice package of stories focusing on schools for adolescents who need an alternative to traditional high school. The stories examine themes such as the absence of a dropout-recovery strategy in Chicago, and the absence of boys of color from alternative schools.
Matthew Rosin, guest blogging over at Mike Kirst’s blog, The College Puzzle, is starting an interesting series of posts on California’s Early Assessment Program, which is building bridges between high schools and the state’s public university system.
While you’re reading, I’ll be writing. I’m fresh back from a trip to Alabama, where I visited a high school that’s been working hard on adolescent literacy for a decade. Stay tuned for my story.
