Designing Learning Sequences With the 5 Es (Video)

Middle school science teachers in New York City practice the ‘5 E’ instructional model—engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate—to design learning sequences that align with the Next Generation Science Standards. Using a hypothetical lesson, the teachers translate a standards page into what they would actually do in the classroom.
