Smarter Balanced—one of two groups of states working to design shared assessments of the common standards—has launched a Spanish webpage.

Called Smarter en Español, the webpage is meant for parents, students, and teachers, and includes information about the new tests and how they will be made accessible to all students, including English-language learners.

Next week in Los Angeles, Smarter Balanced states will make a final decision on the array of tools and testing supports that will be available for ELLs and students with disabilities.

PARCC—the other group of states developing common assessments—will soon release parent and teacher guides to the tests and the accommodations policies in Spanish, according to spokesman Chad Colby. PARCC will also translate some of its existing documents into Spanish, he said.
