The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $755,000 grant to California State University, Long Beach for a project focused on helping preK-12 students with achievement deficits, including those with disabilities.
The Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs awarded the grant to the univeristy’s School Psychology Credential Program, which will recruit 44 graduate students and train them in instructional assessment and intervention practices.
The goal of the project, which began Oct. 1, is to produce education leaders that can improve the ways schools assist struggling learners.
The project is one of 60 grant awardees selected from 126 proposals submitted to the Department of Education. In total, the department has awarded $11.8 million to institutions in 25 states.
