The Tampa Tribune ran an interesting feature yesterday on one special education teacher’s reaction to a measure passed by the Florida legislature that would change her profession by tying teacher pay to student test scores.
Liza Johnson, 49, teaches eight 3rd graders at Calvin Hunsinger School, in Clearwater, Fla., which serves students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
“These aren’t widgets,” the 15-year teaching veteran wanted to yell. “They’re kids!”
