The school board for one of the smallest districts in Indiana has voted to keep the one-building district open next year and plans to try to recruit students from China.
Union School Corp. Superintendent Allan Hayne will travel to an educational forum this month in China to try to bring more students to the district. School board President Christa Ellis says those students would pay tuition of as much as $30,000 a year.
Union has been losing students rapidly, ending last year with just 315. As of Sept. 18, it had 251.
