The National Environmental Education Foundation and The Weather Channel have provided grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to 26 high school teachers who are new to the environmental education field.

The teachers, winners of the Classroom Earth High School Challenge, submitted innovative plans for including environmental themes in their courses. Plans included habitat restoration and energy conservation.

The National Environmental Education Foundation offers information on Classroom Earth and the challenge’s 2009 grants, which will be announced in March 2009.
