CNN is projecting that Richard Blumenthal, the Democratic attorney general who sued the federal government over the No Child Left Behind Act, has beaten Linda McMahon, the former World Wrestling Entertainment chief executive officer, for an open U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut.
Blumenthal filed the suit back in 2005, calling the law an unfunded mandate. On his campaign website, he continues to call for a major overhaul of the law.
McMahon, a former state school board member, wanted to see “choice and competition” through expansion of charter schools.
