The nonprofit research groups American Institutes for Research and Learning Point Associates merged last week. Learning Point, based in Naperville, Ill., began in 1984 as a federal regional education laboratory and it continues to run the Regional Education Laboratory Midwest. The 1,500-employee AIR has its headquarters in Washington and offices worldwide. The merger will expand airs education profile.
