The following table shoes the percentage of teachers who say the professional development they’ve received improved their classroom teaching “a lot.” Respondents are divided into teachers who received one to eight hours of professional development a year and those who received more than eight hours.

1–8 hours More than 8 hours
On state or district curriculum and performance standards: 7% 20%
On integration of educational technology in the grade or subject taught: 12% 38%
On in-depth study of the subject in their main teaching assignment: 12% 41%
On classroom management, including student discipline: 13% 40%
On addressing the needs of students with disabilities: 8% 42%
On addressing the needs of students with limited English proficiency or from diverse cultural backgrounds: 9% 38%
