At 70 Chicago public schools with low parent-involvement scores, parents who attend parent-teacher conferences to collect their child’s report card will receive a $25 gift card for Walgreens.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Greg Wasson, the chief executive officer of the Walgreen Co., announced a new public-private partnership last week that “creates a pilot incentive program aimed at encouraging parents to become more involved in their schools. It is part of new efforts the 400,000-student district is undertaking to better engage parents across the district,” a press release said.
Mr. Emanuel said the idea came to him during a workout, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
