Resources for Schools on Swine Flu

Talking With Children About Swine Flu A resource guide for parents talking to their children about swine flu, compiled by the PTA, National Association of School Nurses, and the National Association of School Psychologists.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention also has a number of resources on the swine flu. Its comprehensive page includes guidance for K-12 school dismissal, the use of face masks in schools, and resources for community mitigation of the flu.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has set up a resource page of swine flu information, which includes directions for schools and a handbook for infrastructure preparedness.

The World Health Organization has an information page on swine flu, with helpful frequently asked questions in English and Spanish.

As far as nongovernmental resources, curriculum developer Health Teacher recently posted 7 actions schools can take to guard against swine flu. The National Association of School Psychologists developed a resource guide for talking with children about swine flu. This is also available as a podcast.
