Officials with the Clayton County, Ga., public schools have decided not to appeal the loss of the district’s accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As of Sept. 1, the 50,000-student district, outside Atlanta, became the first in almost 40 years to lose its accreditation. (“Loss of Accreditation Rocks Georgia District,” Sept. 3, 2008.)
