This chart shows the typical time frame for hiring teachers in the four districts studied by the New Teacher Project, indicated by bold lines, and their neighboring school systems, shown with light lines. The urban districts lagged significantly behind their competitors in making offers.

Note: Beginning and end dates show the month hiring begins (placement offered) and when majority of hiring is completed.
*3% of hires completed before May.
**5% of hires completed before April.
