Superintendent of Public Instruction Herber J. Grover of Wisconsin has announced he will not seek a fourth four-year term in the job.
Mr. Grover, whose current term does not end until July 1993, said he was making the announcement now to give possible candidates for the job a chance to prepare.
The 55-year-old school chief had often sparred with Gov. Tommy G. Thompson over education issues, yet the Governor praised Mr. Grover last week for his service to the state.
A former five-term state legislator and school-district administrator, Mr. Grover said he had no definite plans for the future.
